If you want to build a base, it might be best to head for the southeast side of the island, so you can have some peace and quiet for a little while.

This is where you'll find most of the caves, camps, points of interest, and even GPS locators.

A lot of activity takes place on the West side of the island.Some will require special equipment, lots of energy, food, drinks, weapons, and sometimes even explosives. To make a marker, snap a stick in two then equip the GPS locator and place it on top.Ĭaves should be the last markers you head for! Why? Most of the caves can take a while to get through and are often filled with mutants and cannibals.

At the moment, it appears that the GPS locators are bugged, and although you can cycle through a variety of different icons when you place them down only one icon works. Not only can you use these as makeshift markers, but you'll also find handy items like the Flashlight and the shovel. You'll then want to go for the GPS locators. If you're not ready to build a base, but the first night is approaching, these are the perfect little safe havens to get you through. Hold off on the cave exploring! The pulsing green points of interest have plenty of loot in them, and the ones you can initially access will sometimes have underground caves that have safe places for you to sleep. When you first set off exploring, we'd recommend heading for the pulsing green points of interest and GPS locators (which are the purple icons) first.

The only exception to this rule will be the logs, as you can only carry 2 of these at a time, so you can worry about finding these things when you're crafting.ģ. Rocks, sticks, leaves, berries, anything and everything you can get your hands on. Pick up everything while you travel until you physically cannot carry anything else.
